'Just an Ordinary Copper'
John Marshall served with Lincolnshire Police from 30th
November 1970 to 28th July 2002.
In this book he recalls memories from childhood, growing up in the 1960’s, through to retirement from paid work at 60. Married to Heather for over 50 years, they have two adult children.
John is the current Chairman of NARPO in Lincolnshire - supporting the welfare of retired members.
About the Author
After a police career, he became the first CEO of the Centrepoint Outreach homelessness charity in Boston (not to be confused with Centrepoint – London).
John is ‘Reader Emeritus’ having previously been licensed as a church lay minister for 30 years. During that time, he was Secretary General and Chairman of the Association of Lincoln Readers for 20 years and a member of the national Central Readers Council for 11 years.
He still keeps active with church and voluntary roles and enjoys walking, landscape photography, bird watching, setting up and maintaining community websites, singing and bowls. In 2022 he set up an indoor Boccia club, where members play the sport in autumn and winter.
These activities are often followed by a pint or two of real ale in the village pub and social club!
John broadcast on Radio Lincolnshire on his last day working for Centrepoint Outreach.
